Happy Holidays!

This holiday I became a kid again, making the ultimate gingerbread house! R and I had so much fun making the dough. When it came to assembling the house, it truly tested our patience to make a solid foundation with the icing. We found that the roof kept sliding and after a couple tries, we made sure each time we frosted a piece of gingerbread it was refrigerated so the frosting would harden. This took most of the day!

Finally, it was time to decorate our house. We used sour gum drops, Necco sugar wafers for shingles, and cotton candy for the smoke from the chimney. Our final touch was the heart of the house made out of the candy cane hooks. The ground plane would not be complete without placing a few trees made by none other than my Peeps!

We spent the weekend camping with great friends in Big Sur. It was a lovely weekend minus the rain Saturday night. We saw the full moon, trek a few hikes and had a lovely brunch at Nepenthe. I love camping!!!

Washington D.C. would not be complete without capturing the historical monuments of the National Mall, Washington Monument, the Portrait Gallery, Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial and the Reflecting Pool. We walked, we stopped, we ate, we photographed but most of all we were very lucky to be able to experience and appreciate the beautiful scenery and gorgeous weather.

While we were in DC we visited the most beautiful private residential gardens in the North West quadrant. I am amazed at the lush vibrant veridian colors of the landscape. Not to mention their maintenance crew is fantastic! The most prominent features common in these gardens are the art sculptures and fountains.

Some of my most memorable moments are spent traveling outside of California. This past week I was in our nations capital, Washington DC, submerged in historic architecture, centuries old art in the Smithsonian museums and surrounded by the talented landscape architects who designed the many outdoor spaces I love to photograph.

The American Society of Landscape Architects Annual Meeting was held at the Washington Convention Center. http://www.asla.org/ I heard the most influential speakers talk about sustainability, stormwater management and creating livable space within our communties.

I was able to capture some of my time in DC after attending the lectures. The weather was perfect! I still have not seen all of what DC has to offer. One week is not enough especially when I wasn't on vacation.

One of the great perks about working Downtown is the exposure to all the diversity. Today was the opening of the Festival of Sails. Sail boats traveled roundtrip from the Star of India to Coronado. I absolutely love the red, white and blue on this sail boat screams freedom!

The Chih sisters are full of life and laughter. They are only 17 months apart and have their own way of expressing themselves. Bonnie (left) is an out right fashionista, designing and sewing her own clothes while majoring in pre-Pharmacy. Sarah, (right) is more serious and shy but a complete barrel of laughs. It was exactly 1 year ago I attended Bonnie's high school graduation and I feel so honored to be back to celebrate Ms. Sarah's commencement. She will be attending her freshman year at UC Davis in the Fall majoring in Bio-Engineering.

We did a very small photo shoot and I absolutely love these portraits of her by the Boston ivy vines. She is so funny and looks so happy. Congratulations!!!

Recycle

When I was younger my parents had the newspaper delivered to our house every Sunday. After reading my favorite sections, travel, calendar and comics, I saved the best for last. The coupons!!! I was such a coupon junkie! If it was buy one get one free, I clipped it. If it was buy one get $1.00 off I was all over it! Basically, if it looked good I clipped it. I had stacks of expired coupons sitting in a blank envelope. Many years have passed and I still love a good deal but I am no longer a coupon fiend. Instead I recycle them.

I wasn't always such an avid recycler and then I read that over 73% of all newspapers recovered for recycling, almost a third goes back into making more newsprint. (Keep America Beautiful, 2006)

What really gets on my nerves are the amount of advertisement (aka. junk mail) that come though the mail system. I give it a glance and then it goes into the recycling bin. I just don't put the paper in the trash, it goes into the recycling bin.

Among the resources we can recycle include energy, paper, metal, aluminum cans, glass, plastic, styrofoam, steel, JUNK MAIL and gray water from the sink, toilet, bath and shower collected and filtered to reuse into the landscape for irrigation.

When we recycle, we are helping the environment. I want to know I am doing my part to help the environment. Join me in recycling if you haven't already done so! Thanks!

Whistler, Canada

Snowboarding is one of my favorite winter activities and throughout the many winter resorts I have been to, Whister, Canada is by far my most memorable experience. Not only was the powder excellent but the hospitality of the town was comforting and the beautiful scenery was mesmerizing.

While watching the coverage of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver this past week, the images have taking me back to my trip in 2004. That year they were building the Four Seasons Hotel and construction was booming to prepare for the 2010 Olympics. I can only imagine how beautiful the Whistler Village looks now. Here are a few pictures from Blackcomb Mountain ski slopes.

San Diego Botanic Garden: Trent and Addison

Trent and Addison came down to SD for a visit last Sunday. Addison is almost two years old and more active than she was at the beach. Addi at the beach It was a beautiful day and we decided to explore the newly built Hamilton Children's Garden at the San Diego Botanic Garden. The landscape was nicely designed with areas devoted to child development and sensory and sound. Addi especially loved the Alphabet and vegetable garden. I can't believe she's growing up so fast and walking all on her own.

Claire's Cafe and Bakery

It was at Claire's Cafe and Bakery I met Clare and her almost 12 month old Connor. You may remember my previous post of Connor when he was probably 3 or 4 months old Connor and when he was 8 months old Connor and Mommy at Presidio Park .

Well, he's not so tiny anymore. He's playful and full of smiles but sometimes he could get cranky and that's where we give him his snacks in a duckie cup with a serrated lid that make it easy so you could pull out a snack without spilling the rest of it.

By the end of our lunch date, scattered on the floor were millions (only a few) tiny specks of cereal Connor had dropped to the ground along with a spoon and many sweetener packets. Connor is so lucky to have a mommy who loves him so much. How can you not love this face?

Damon and Tina Baby Shower at the Vantage Clubhouse Diamond Bar

A bright, sunny day at the Vantage Clubhouse in the Brookfield Homes Residential Development, Diamond Bar. Rowenna, a friend of Damon and Tina's was so kind enough to let them use this facility for the event!

The forecast called for 60% chance of rain and it worked out enough to where we were able to eat and play a game before the wind picked up and we were ushered inside. Good thing, it started raining.

Damon and Tina are great friends of mine and they didn't ask me to photograph the day but I just could not leave my camera alone. There were too many funny and sweet moments to capture! I really loved spending the day with them and meeting new friends.

We stayed out all day at the beach. Loaded with the essentials in our cooler and plenty of sunblock we played a mean game of Scrabble. When it was time to say goodbye for the day, we watched as the Hawaiian sunset casts her rays over Ala Moana beach, it was absolutely breath taking that evening. See you tomorrow I said!!!

Beautiful Scenery

The scenery in Hawaii is so breathtaking. Almost everywhere you look is lush, full of viridian and deep blue hues with puffs of light feather clouds. This famous Nuuanu Pali look out has beautiful panoramic views of the Windward side of the island. Because it is located on the windward side be sure to bring a jacket and leave your hats in the car, the gusts of winds are mighty strong!

Waimanalo Beach

One of the great things about vacationing in the most sought out destination spots is the warm climate and beautiful scenery. The locals have the most amazing living environment!!! They can go to the beach when ever they want. And get a tan in December!

I photographed a few people spending their day sitting along the cliffs of Waimanalo Beach. I can't help but find it interesting to know what they were thinking. One thing I know is that the view is magnificent!

Some days I feel like I am on top of the world and some days I feel like the weight of the mountain is on my shoulders. Like this week, it hasn't been that productive but I am determined to put together a TO DO LIST and hope each item gets a check and double check by the end of the week.

Today is Thursday, note to self tomorrow is Friday, one day closer to the weekend. I still have time. Right now, I want to focus on the simplicities of life.

This is my 100th blog post! I am start the first week of 2010 check and double check with my daily blog done. I was asked to take photos of the landscape at the San Diego County Water Authority earlier during the week. Here is a photo of an Agave. Isn't this plant so simple but intriguing?

Andringa Sisters

The Andringa sisters are so full of life and they always make me smile! I love spending time with them!!! They are the kids of Mimi and Bror Andringa, two close friends I have had the pleasure to get to know over 10 years. I have seen these girls grow up since they were little babies. I cannot believe 6 years has gone by so quickly.

Mimi's sister, Gina is my best friend and she has a wonderful baby girl Mira. We all gathered together last Saturday to wish Gina a Happy Birthday and I was the surprise!!! Gina had no idea I was going to be there!

Kualoa Ranch

On Christmas Eve, besides laying out at the beach we booked a two hour ATV ride at Kualoa Ranch located on the northeast side of Oahu. The ranch is the home to many film sites such as "50 First Dates", Jurassic Park, and most recently the hit TV series "LOST". We rode deep into the northern valley riding in and out of thick forests up to scenic lookouts with views of the Kaneohe Bay and an ancient Hawaiian fishpond.

Unexpected Finds

Every Saturday you can encounter the most unexpected finds at the farmers market at the University of Hawaii Kapi'olani Community College (KCC). You have your basic kettle corn, baked breads, nuts but what I was excited to see and taste was the local Hawaiian grown produced foods. We tasted a couple flavors of honey from Manoa Honey Company, picked up several papayas, a Dole pineapple and a couple zucchinis.

Around one aisle we saw a long line full of hungry people waiting for the fried green tomatoes. I have to admit, I am not one for fried foods but these fried green tomatoes were delicious!

White Plains Beach

One day we spent an afternoon at White Plains beach where the surf was just enough for me to SUP. This beach was also known for seeing Hawaiian monk seals. A local Hawaiian man was telling me they are a critically endangered specie, headed toward extinction and to keep my distance at least 150 feet away. However, on this beach they only had enough rope taped off for 50 feet away. This lazy monk seal was bathing in the warm sun occasionally scratching himself and yawning. He was curious and spared a few moments to pose for the camera!!

Moseley Doronio

Most of you know I love photographing animals, especially dogs and while I was in Hawai'i I met and fell in love with Moseley. Moseley's owners, my new friends Geraldine and John, are one of the most funniest couples you will ever meet. Their dog is no exception. He is so cute and LOVES to be scratched behind the ear. After a minute he falls to the ground which makes him look paralyzed but actually he's loving it!

G and John bought him an outfit for the outdoors..."Outward Hound"!!!! It even has a handle on his back so you can pick him up!

Do you remember your first word, best friend or favorite food? Attending Ella's 1st birthday party last Saturday reminded me of when I turned one. I look back at the photographs of me, my brother and my parents gathering around with friends and family to celebrate my first year. It was a big occasion. Like Ella I didn't quite put my cake in my mouth but I did bow down to the all mighty cake (head on table and everything) which til this day is my favorite cake...chinese chocolate sponge cake just like Ella's.

I was so glad to be apart of Ella's 1st birthday and to witness happiness in all my friends lives. I am so happy that I have such great friends and Happy Birthday to Miss Ella! Today she turns one!

I met with one of my most cherished friends Clare and her 8 month old baby boy Connor for some fun at Cafe Chloe. I cannot believe how much Connor has grown since I saw him earlier this year! He's a little man with two cute little baby teeth.

Isn't he a ladies man already! Yes, he definitely got the attention of our waitress at the cafe. She kept coming over and trying to get Connor to laugh. Oh Connor, you are going to break many hearts growing up!

Mimi Fong is a very talented neckwear designer who has revitalized the common tie. Her brocades and exquisite pieces are unique to any man who wears one. I have known Mimi for 10 years through her sister Gina who is one of my best friends. Gina and I love to visit Mimi at her Trunk Show and people watch. Maybe sip a martini or two...

I love visiting Mimi at work because not only is it rare to meet the designer of a clothing piece but you'll see when you meet her how natural and down to earth her personality can be. Her new line of casual mens shirts are anything but... dress them with a nice pair of khaki shorts or dress pants.

Trent and Brenda have a wide eyed sweet baby girl Addison who will be 18 months on October 5th! Trent and I have been friends since college and Rob and I were so happy to have visitors, we loved every moment of their visit. After lunch we were off to the beach where we literally GOT WET! Have you heard of soggy dippers? ME=NOPE! hahaha but we had a blast especially ADDI! I love this girl! Can't wait to see her grow up!

Napa Wineries

This weekend we traveled to the Bay area for some fun in the city with Jenn and Dave! I love San Francisco. My only connection with this great city was that I was born there, left when I was ten but fortunate enough to have lots of family and friends to visit throughout the years. I feel this immediate connection when I enter big cities, the urban life draws me in.

Jenn set up a few winery visits in Napa on Saturday. Our first stop was at the Cuvasion Estate Wines. Their tasting room had been redone and very modernized. Wines were good. I snapped a few shots here but the rest of our stops I wish I had the lens with VR! hahaha...I'll let it go at that!

Our last winery stop was at Merryvale where Rob got this great shot of the wine barrels. Apparently you can reserve a private party but expect to pay $$$$$.

To my surprise, many wineries are dog friendly and Beeper was able to spend the day with us. We ate at the AKA restaurant in St. Helena which was absolutely divine! Beeper was allowed into the restaurant too. He was so well behaved!!!

My little Bun Bun is not so little anymore....She is a graduate of The Kings Academy a private Christian School in Mountain View, CA. This special girl is my cousin, who I have held since she was a baby and has grow into a smart, wonderful, funny, talented young lady. She will be off to Purdue University this Fall for Pre-Pharmacy.

Since she was little, we have bonded and I have enjoyed her visits to Southern California with her younger sister and brother to Color-Me-Mine, shopping, the first mani and pedi....I will cherish these moments and I look forward to making new ones with her as an adult. I am so proud she has accomplished this great milestone in her life.

I was reminded of Professor Randy Pausch recap of his emotional "Last Lecture" featured on the Oprah show yesterday before pancreatic cancer succumbed his life. He left us with a message which was to not feel sorry for him because he had this life threatening disease but to embrace life each and every single day. We all complain of the lack of time we need to finish every single task we need done that day. But the truth is to look at each day with a positive perspective; with energy and what it can bring us. Everyday is a new day whether we are having a bad day or a good day. We are in control of making our life, it doesn't come to us, we make it happen.

Mira is ten weeks old and content as can be. She has had so many visitors lately everyone wants to hold her and Torspo feels so neglected! Poor Torspo he has to keep wearing this cone to prevent him from licking his paws.

There is something mysteriously intriguing about French Bulldogs and I can't quite put my finger on it. For Mother's Day weekend I met Beeper. Beeper is a pale cream happy-go-lucky French Bulldog. His knubby paws and his cute smile won me over at first sight. His owner is Jenn (www.funandfunnylife.blogspot.com) and Dave who you may have read from my previous post on their wedding last October in Mexico. Jenn's sister Alesia has a 4 year old French Bulldog Gallaghar and recently visited a breeder who had a family of two brothers and one sister. Alesia bought both brothers, Beeper for Jenn and Dave and Finnigan as a playmate for Gallaghar.

They are so cute! Here's a teaser of Beeper! More to come....

Potato Chips

I love the weekends when I get to spend time with my family and as a bonus my closest friends. I hardly get to visit new restaurants in Los Angeles however the most intriguing sandwich shop opened up last weekend called Potato Chips. Read Daily Candy's review on May 4th.

Chip to Be Square

I absolutely find their sandwiches divine! This sandwich shop does not need any introduction, its square footage is small and reminds me of a refinished Italian deli in Europe. Selected sandwiches on the menu are few but once you bite into any sandwich you'll be begging for more. In each sandwich you'll find your meat, lettuce, tomato between a toasted french roll and what I find the secret is the light drizzle of Balsamic Vinegar....yyuuummmm...it'll have you singing! Their homemade water with oranges and lemon were calling my tastebuds...I had four whole glasses!

I definitely recommend Potato Chips.

{Old Town's Gourmet Cafe}

A happy note to end the day, on a Monday...as my tummy was growling with no substance except for a lonely egg I had this morning at 8am! My 1:30pm meeting at Soltek's office ended a little early and the receptionist Claudia suggest I try the new coffee shop downstairs called Old Town's Gourmet Cafe. They literally just opened last Friday and lucky me they had tea! Since I am not a coffee connoisseur, it amazed me the plethora of tea choices that were presented to me. They had choices way beyond Earl Grey and English Breakfast...not to put them down, which are among my favorites too.

As my tea was brewing, my eyes kept glancing over to the pastries covered nicely in a glass top. I selected the Cranberry Orange Scone...yumm...and then quickly changed my mind as one of the owners lifted up the scone to find a hidden Chocolate Almond Pastry...oh to my delight! I'll take that one instead!

The Chocolate Almond Pastry was on the house! Thanks Old Town Gourmet Cafe, it was DELICIOUS!

Every night I have been editting and processing my modeling shoot photos (all 1200 of them) and I end up saying to myself at around 11pm, there must be an easier way to do this.

Lately, I have been trying to save my most precious time for sleep so the presets are helping. It has saved me loads of time and I hope to send out more pictures to the models soon. I just got a response back from Rhawnie (pictured here) with Chris. She expressed that she would love to work with me again. It made me really happy to hear that!

We decided to take advantage of the sunny weather and hung out on the lawn at Powerhouse Park on Saturday. The wind was a bit breezy and luckily I brought a light jacket with me. We witnessed a wedding being set up, a young girl celebrating her birthday but nothing as eye catching as this wind glider. Watching him trying to catch the wind and every time he jumped off the cliff only to come right back up and do it again. Way to go! If you don't succeed try, try again.

This past weekend I got the chance to go on my first modeling shoot. There was about 6 models and about 20+ photographers armed and ready with their finger on the trigger. We stood in a big group in front of the models and then it was Ready...Set...Go!

I quickly grabbed Rhawnie and Chris and then jumped over to Josh. It was so much fun and the models were great to work with. SO FIERCE!! I LOVE IT!

As an artist I like to look at the fine detail and the vivid colors that make my subject so unique. I hope to explore other genres of possibilities very soon. My favorite color is Purple. Any shade and any combination of this lovely hue would enlighten my spirits. Lavendar, violet, boysenberry, raspberry, etc. Purple is royalty and is associated with nobility and spirituality. According to Desktop Publishing on About.com, purple has a special almost sacred place in nature: lavender, orchid, lilac and violet flowers are often delicate and considered precious. Purple can boost an artist's creativity but too much purple, like blue could result in moodiness. That's not good! Hopefully my friends think I am pretty creative too.

Spring has finally arrived and the weather is pretty lackluster. Hopefully it'll change soon. Every year I look forward to Spring Day light savings time when we forward our clocks one hour ahead. Hey...so, we loose one hour of sleep...No more driving home in the dark and I enjoy my long runs along the Sea Wall at Tamarak.

Powerhouse Park has recently caught my eye in Del Mar. Many people come here to walk their dogs and layout on the lawn.

Baby Ella

In life there are many occasions to be celebrated. I believe it's the first ones I remember the most. I am not a mother yet but the miracle of life is so amazing. The first time I felt a baby kick was when my friend Amy Ataya, www.amyataya.com, had her first baby boy Noah, now she has 4 beautiful children with her husband Mario. The first time I went to the maternity ward was when my friend Gemma Iannelli had her first baby boy John, Jr., now she has 2 beautiful children with her husband John. The first time I went to an ultra sound and heard a baby's heart beat was when my friends Sandy and Ramon found out they were having their first baby boy, Matthew, now they have 2 beautiful children.

When my bestest friend Tritia, my buddy from Junior High School had her first baby girl Ella, it was my first time I held a baby 3 days old. Ella Beverly Chang born 5:30am, November 25, 2008 weighing 9 lbs. 10 oz. Knowing that the baby would arrive around Thanksgiving, I told Trish that when the baby arrived I would literally drop my drumstick and rush over to the hospital to visit her. Dropping the drumstick wasn't necessary however I drove over to the hospital at the first chance I could and held this beautiful baby in my arms. As I entered her hospital room, I greeted Trish with the biggest hug I had in me and then looked over to Baby Ella in her daddy's arms. She was so perfect wrapped in a blanket with a head full of hair. I was handed the baby and in my arms, we watched Ella as she slept, blew bubbles out of her mouth, wrinkle her nose, tighten her eyes, move her head, stretch her body and her long toes. Holding her, I could feel her body vibrate...I think she was passing gas. :D

I am so happy I was able to spend this time with Tritia and Ella in the hospital. It is among the first's I will never forget.

Congratulations Tritia and Frank! You guys will make great parents!

Smee Hall

I had the pleasure of attending the Building Dedication Ceremony of Smee Hall at the Point Loma Nazarene University on Saturday. Some of you may know Delorenzo Incorporated is the landscape architect in charge for many of the various buildings on PLNU. Smee Hall is the New School of Theology and Christian Ministries.

Caf Lane was transformed to seat 100+ guests who witness the building dedication and ribbon cutting to mark this historic day for the Smee Family. The Smee Family donated 1 million dollars to building this wonderful addition to the university.

Delorenzo Incorporated was in charge of the landscape and irrigation. The vision of the project was to have the building and the landscape look like it had always been apart of the school. We had certainly fulfilled that.

The magnificent stain glass that radiates from the building is the first cathedral stain glass piece in San Diego. The piece radiates different colors in every angle. I was very honored to be invited to the dedication and saw the pride and joy this building will bring to the University and its prospective students.

Several weeks ago, I got the opportunity to witness David and Jennifer's wedding in Zihuatanejo, Mexico at the Hotel Las Brisas. A beautiful small town off the Bahia de Zihuatanejo. These two are very lucky people to have found each other. I see happiness, laughter, and love between them. I think it is in the way David looks at Jennifer or maybe the way Jennifer smiles when David holds her hand. I have only witnessed a few people so lucky to be so in love. I am so happy for them.

After their stay at Hotel Las Brisas one year ago, David and Jennifer decided to share their love of this town with their closest friends and family on their wedding day. Their plan to have a wedding destination could not have come at a better time. I have only ventured into Mexico twice before for the 50 mile bike ride in Rosarito/Ensenada and this trip not only gave me the vacation I needed but allowed me to look at Mexico in a whole different light.

Election Day is about the right to cast a vote on how strongly you believe in being a part of seeing change in our government. This morning however, was all about trying to get through the polling lines. My boyfriend and I headed to the polling center around 7am to beat the rush. To our dismay, it was raining and luckily I brought an umbrella. We approached the center nestled in a small housing community's clubhouse and proceeded to wait in line behind a little over 30 people.

The wait wasn't too bad and to show what a good citizen I was I shared my umbrella with another lady in line who wore the most fantastic red shoes. Do unto other as they would have done on to you. While in line a gentlemen overseeing the polling center made sure everyone was in the correct precinct line. Yes, we were standing in the correct line.

When we got to the front of the line, the woman who was checking in registered voters proceeded to tell me I was in the wrong line. Puzzled and irate, I proceeded to line up in the other precinct which was right next door. The woman in the second line told me I was in the wrong line and had to line up in the previous line I was just in. At this point, perturbed as I was, told the woman I was not going to wait politely in line a 3rd time around.

I told her and pointed to the woman in the first line who caused all the confusion. I was then motioned over back to the first line where I had to wait again behind 5 more people. In line, I find out I was not the only voter who got the run around.

I guess I made such a fuss because I don't want other voters to go through what I did. Waiting in line is not fun. We politely wait in line the first time...Second time okay...little ticked but a third time! I want the volunteers to know, do your job correctly and read the form precinct number before you redirect the voters to another line.

After all that, I enjoyed the bumper to bumper traffic to work.

My boyfriend and I went to the Bates Nut Farm in Escondido on Saturday to select the perfect Jack-o-lantern. As we strolled up and down the fields, we proceeded to talk about our pumpkin carving contest rules, the stakes, and the judges. He is always so competitive that it completely blows me in the dust. I secretly love him for his competitiveness. That night, while we were carving he would give me his sneaking smirky ghoulish stares. It felt like we were back in elementary school again telling each other to stop sneaking peeks of each others Jack. I will let you my readers jugde. The evil, sneaky pumpkin or the kind and friendly Jack!

My bestest friend and I recently celebrated my birthday taking pictures of random images in Los Angeles. One member of her family, dog Torspo, a highly photogenic dog who always kept completely still in every frame, stopped along this leisurely stroll for a photo opt. He is so well behaved! I love the composition of this photo and the shadows and how the sunlight kisses his fur. I'll definitely submit this for my class assignment.

I saw this powerful image of steel posts laid out horizontally with a bicycle in front (bottom photo) of the Converse store on 3rd Street. It evokes form and linear movement.

I love my photography class and feel I have already accomplished so much. We have completed 2 assignments so far and we are on to our third, MOTION.

Four photos: 1) 1/30 still 2) 1/30 pan 3) 1/500 still and 1/500 pan. This assignment was a BEAR! I stood outside on the street for a long time just shooting moving vehicles, motorcylist, bicyclist, anything that moved fast. Nothing I did seemed to help get the right shot. Either I panned too fast or too slow. And then finally, the vehicle of my dreams and it had words on it....so clear...AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

A couple weeks ago, I went to hear my favorite photographer Jasmine Star talk about branding yourself. She told us to look within ourselves and use our assets to our advantage. As a landscape architect, I truly have a love for the landscape. I decided the only way to become a better photographer was to practice what I love. I have been doing just that and I also signed up for another photography class! I also noticed that my previous blog writing sucked and decided to involve my audience a bit more into what makes me tick. Thanks Jasmine.

Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger

Ever since we got the high definition box for our tv, I have to admit I have been addicted to recording the OPRAH show. Of course, her talk show features celebrities like Tom Cruise and his famous jumping chair incident and Hedi and Seal's passionate affection for one another. How about the Big Give television series? Didn't that just move you a little bit. Or the amazing young kids who are so musically talented! They blew me away! I have actually learned so much from watching OPRAH and thinks she is an amazing woman who is a great teacher.

Well, this past week I was behind on my episodes so I finally caught up yesterday with Oprah's Top Picks for Summer show. This show featured Donald Trump and the must try Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger courtesy of executive chef, Jeff O'Neill. After watching Jeff prepare this burger, I had to try it. It's chilling in the refrigerator as I type. A key ingredient is the Mar-a-Lago Pear Chutney to give it the extra ZING but I substituted Mango Chutney already in my fridge for this recipe. I couldn't find where they sold the chutney at Vons. I hope it turns out good. Try it on the grill!!!

Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger

Serves 6

Oprah found a new favorite food when she tried this turkey burger at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's private club in Palm Beach. "I believe [it] may be the best turkey burger in the entire world," she says. The Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger will be permanently available at the Trump Bar and Grille in Trump Tower in New York City, open to the public for lunch and dinner. It will also be served during lunch in Chicago at Sixteen, the Trump International Hotel restaurant.

INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup scallions, thinly sliced
1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
1/8 cup canola oil
4 pounds ground turkey breast
2 Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. black pepper
2 tsp. chipotle Tabasco™
1 lemon, juice and grated zest
1/2 bunch parsley, finely chopped
1/4 cup Major Grey's Chutney, pureed

Sauté the scallions, celery and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool.

Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours.

Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes.

Serve with a side of Mar-a-Lago Pear Chutney and your favorite toasted bread, pita or hamburger roll.
